Toulouse food markets

TOULOUSE has fabulous markets every day of the week except Monday. This is what I miss most about Toulouse, now that I live in Oxford! The food is so fantastic! The Carmes and Victor Hugo are open every morning (exc Mondays) till 2pm. The quality of the produce is wonderful. St Aubain is only Sunday mornings but very well worth a visit and has lots of things besides food.

Marché des Carmes

This is my all time favourite market, where I did most of my food shopping over the 6 years that I lived in the neighbourhood. I recommend the oyster bar!

Le Magret Marché Victor Hugo

It’s great fun to eat in the restaurants up above the market. Only open for lunch but very lively and fun!

Marché Saint-Aubin

This is an outdoor market, open on Sundays. It’s fun, as it usually features arts and crafts, as well as food and there are often buskers playing.

Marché Victor Hugo

This is probably the best market for meat and cheese. Its main attraction though, in my opinion, is the restaurants upstairs: only open for lunch. Inexpensive, relaxed and delicious.

Marché Couvert Saint-Cyprien

St Cyprien is a nice neighbourhood to live in. This is a lovely market... smaller than the Carmes and Victor Hugo but very good none the less

Marché Jeanne d'Arc

There is a big outdoor market along the boulevard here which has some good deals. It is more mixed quality than the covered markets in the list but if you choose carefully you can load up with plenty of delicious fruit and veg. Great for cêpes in the autumn!
