But first...Coffee

While away a few hours watching the world pass you in some of the prettiest, quirkiest and chicest locations. There is a cafe here to suit every budget and every occasion (with a special shout out to Eggs and Bread. I love the food in all concepts below!)

St Mary Aldermary

Coffee in a gothic church? Yup, when Sir Christopher Wren designed this church after the Great Fire he probably wasn't thinking about future generations sitting there enjoying a cup of Joe...but there is something beautiful about contemplating the world over a fresh brew in such a peaceful place in such a busy city.

Feya

The cutest place for a cup of coffee before a trip to Selfridges. Who wouldn't believe they are living their best life having eaten a happiness pancake surrounded by calm pastel colours and a beautiful decor? This is the ultimate girls' place so maybe leave the boys at home!

Algerian Coffee Stores

This cafe has been here since Victorian times and the pricing hasn't kept up with inflation. This may be the only place in Soho where you can get an espresso for a pound. You can also choose from an awe-inspiring selection of teas and coffees if you want to make a brew at home. This shop kept me going through my student days and is likely to fuel a few more generations of students and soho hedonists.

Barbican Conservatory

I adore the Barbican. I am fascinated by the Brutalist architecture. I may be part of a small group of like-minded people but I truly find something beautiful in its dystopia. I also like green spaces so the conservatory is a respite if you need a break from the bleak buildings. Sundays are made for an afternoon stroll looking at all the plants and admiring the Koi carp before indulging in high tea. See? The Barbican can be beautiful!

Fortnum & Mason

With over 300 years of history in producing and selling tea, F&M know all about the traditions of afternoon tea. The Salon is one of my favourite places in London for an elegant cup of tea before a sneaky little shopping trip.

Elan Cafe

Anyone who is on Instagram is sure to have seen this cafe on their feeds over the summer. It is extra pink, extra girly and just extra. Indulge in a ruby latte if you need a bit more pink in your life but the cauliflower hash is incredible and worth the trip alone.

You can't miss these barges-just keep an eye out for the riotous pop of colour on the river next to Paddington station. This is the perfect brunch spot with a focus on serving amazing Australian food.

Eggs & Bread

I love this concept. The menu is simple, in fact there is just one dish-boiled egg with soldiers. You have to cook it yourself, clean up after yourself and basically treat it as if you were in your own kitchen. The truly great thing is that you pay what you think it is worth or more importantly what you can afford. This means that if anyone is hungry in the area then they know they always have somewhere they can eat.

Breath-taking aesthetics combined with Syrian cuisine. Try the Knafeh with your strong coffee and simply take in the views. The perfect escape on a dark and gloomy day when all you want to do is day dream.

Pharmacy 2

Newport Street Gallery has an amazing selection of artists and you can see them all for free. But if you needed any further incentive to visit, then it would have to be Pharmacy 2, the Damien Hirst designed cafe. Pharmacy 2 is home to some of Hirst's personal collection as well as his own creations. So basically, you can just sit and have a drink while being intellectual.
